About Shana

Hi, I’m Shana—counsellor, animal lover, and someone who values genuine connection.

I created Firefly Counselling Services because I know how important it is to feel truly seen, heard & understood. Just like fireflies communicate through their own unique light to find the right connections, I believe that surrounding yourself with the right people—those who uplift, support, and accept you—is essential to healing and growth.

I’m a registered counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association (MACA) and hold a Bachelor of Human Services (Counselling). I’m currently deepening my knowledge by pursuing a Master of Social Work at Griffith University & sharpening my skills in Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy.

My approach is warm, inclusive, and person-centred, drawing from evidence-based therapies like Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT). I also offer Equine-Assisted Therapy, combining my lifelong love of animals with my passion for supporting others.

My practice is neuroaffirming & LGBTQIA+ friendly. I work with people of all ages but have a special interest in helping young people explore their identity, navigate neurodivergence, and manage social, emotional, and mental health challenges. No matter where you are on your journey, my goal is to provide a space where you feel safe to be yourself—without judgment, without pressure, just acceptance and understanding.

I believe that even the smallest light can shine brightly in the darkness. If you’re ready to take the next step, I’d love to walk alongside you as you find your own way to shine.
